A Thoughtful Approach to Technology
One of the biggest myths about Waldorf Education?
That we’re anti-technology —
But actually, we’re a “Slow Tech—Not No Tech” curriculum.
We strive to develop free-thinking individuals who can successfully navigate the world online and off!
Waldorf’s rich interdisciplinary education emphasizes hands-on experiences, human relationships, creativity, social responsibility, and connection with nature. At WHWS, we intentionally introduce technology in developmentally appropriate ways.
Early Childhood~5th Grade
Classrooms are screen-free, focusing on experiential learning, art, movement, music, and lots of time outdoors, so that our students build essential cognitive and social-emotional skills. We encourage parents to limit digital media and devices at home in these early years.
Middle School
Laptops are introduced for research and keyboarding, alongside a Cyber Civics curriculum that promotes ethical, responsible technology use and media engagement. Classrooms remain tech-free to emphasize social-emotional learning, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving through applied arts and hands-on activities.
