Baba returns for his third visit to Bellingham! Baba the Storyteller is one of the few recognized U.S. born practitioners of the ancient West African storytelling craft known as Jaliyaa. He has received numerous awards over the years for his work as a folklorist, traditional harpist, storyteller, community activist and volunteer, and recently developed a new Lion King musical for Disney Cruises.

This year’s visit is extra special, as it is generously funded by our Class of 2026! Our students worked so hard over the course of their eighth grade year, that they had surplus funds to donate. They unanimously and unselfishly decided that it was important to them that our community experienced a return visit from Baba.

Baba’s stories already live deeply at WHWS, and you won’t want to miss his October 15 Community Storytelling event at Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship. Mark your calendars now!
