The Board of Trustees is the fiscal and legal steward for the school, and provides strategic planning and oversight for the entire institution. It is responsible for overseeing the management of the business of the school, including all financial, legal and property matters. The Board works in collaboration with the Collegium (select group of teachers and staff) to ensure that the mission of the school is carried out in accordance with our school’s bylaws.

The Board is composed of parents, teachers, and members of the school community. A full Board typically numbers nine members: three parents, two teachers, and four members-at-large. The administrative director sits on the Board as a non-voting ex officio member.

The Board of Trustees actively promotes and supports Whatcom Hills Waldorf School’s mission. We seek trustees who have the background and ability to bring a broad perspective, passion, and interest in the long-term growth of our school. They should bring expertise in board experience and operations, development, marketing, facilities planning, or law. They are ideally able to provide access to community leaders and new potential donors. Above all, they should be able to communicate our vision and mission to others.
