Tuition Reduction
We offer reduced tuition to families who demonstrate need through an independent evaluation. Tuition may be reduced to a maximum of 40%. The program is intended to assist parents and their children who without such help would not have the opportunity to attend the school and enjoy the benefits of a Waldorf education. There are no work exchange arrangements.

Tuition Reduction up to 40% is offered after determining the the resources of the parents are insufficient to meet the student's total tuition expenses. Parents are expected to contribute according to their means, taking into account total income, assets, number of dependents and other appropriate information. In order to assure objectivity, fairness and confidentiality, a standard approach has been adopted by Whatcom Hills Waldorf School to determine a family's need. We use the financial needs evaluation process of Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS). It is used by hundreds of independent schools across the country including a great number of Waldorf schools like our own.

Should you wish to apply for Tuition Reduction, we encourage families to apply no later than May 1st. Returning families will be offered the application materials each winter for the following year with an opportunity to apply promptly for priority consideration. There is a $44.00 fee, paid by the applicant, for each application submitted for evaluation. If you are a new family and have already been accepted at our school, you may apply at any time. We are confident that this method of ascertaining the needs of our families enhances our ability to provide tuition reduction to benefit the greatest number of our students and make Waldorf education increasingly available to families in Whatcom County. If you have further questions please contact us.

What is a Waldorf School?

What is a Waldorf School?

A promotional video made for the Steiner Fellowship in the UK. It explains some of the philosophies behind the educational approaches of Rudolf Steiner (also known as Waldorf) Schools.

"When Waldorf students reach us at the college level, they are grounded broadly and deeply and have a remarkable enthusiasm for learning. Such students possess the eye of discoverers and the compassionate heart of the reformer, which, when joined to a task, can change the planet.”
